Sources confirm Wyoming set to add former Big Ten coordinator (jay johnson)

Sources confirm to FootballScoop that former Michigan State offensive coordinator Jay Johnson is expected to join the staff at Wyoming.

He will serve as the Cowboys offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under new head coach Jay Sawvel, who was elevated to the head coaching role following the retirement of Craig Bohl.

Adam Rittenberg has reported the same.

Johnson worked under Mel Tucker at Michigan State for a total of four seasons, and followed him to East Lansing after working together at Colorado.

He was a nominee for the Broyles Award that goes to college football's top assistant coach in 2021.

At Wyoming, he takes the place of Tim Polasek, who left to return to North Dakota State (FCS) as the new head coach of the Bison.

The veteran offensive coordinator has nearly three decades of college coaching experience and has coordinated offenses at Colorado, Minnesota, Louisiana and Southern Miss in addition to Michigan State.
