Sources: D-II head coach leaves post to take job at UCLA (Mike Babcock)

Just days before camp is set to open, McKendree (D-II - IL) has announced the resignation of head coach Mike Babcock after 11 seasons leading the program.

Babcock went 58-52 overall as head coach, led McKendree to their first win over a ranked opponent last fall and also tutored a Harlon Hill candidate during the 2022 season in Turner Pullen.

What kind of opportunity could lead to a coach's resignation this close to camp?

Well sources tell FootballScoop that Babcock is heading to UCLA as special assistant to head coach DeShaun Foster.

Defensive coordinator Jason Rejfek, a former linebacker for the program who still ranks among the top ten all-time in tackles, has been named interim head coach for the season.

He takes over a program that went 5-6 last fall after playing in the Crossroads Bowl back in December.

The team is set to open camp Monday, August 12th, with their first game on September 5th at West Florida.
