Sources: Missouri State hiring longtime FBS assistant as wide receivers coach (Donte Pimpleton)

Missouri State is expected to hire Donte' Pimpleton as its new wide receivers coach, sources told FootballScoop on Friday.

Affectionally known as Coach Pimp, Pimpleton played quarterback and wide receiver at Western Kentucky, where he roomed with future FBS head coach Willie Taggart. Pimpleton coached running backs for Taggart at Western Kentucky, South Florida, Oregon, Florida State and, in 2022, at Florida Atlantic.

Pimpleton also coached running backs at UMass in 2021, and a season apiece at wide receivers coach (2013) and offensive coordinator (2014) at Kentucky Wesleyan.

The Louisville native joins a Missouri State staff headed by Ryan Beard, who was promoted to head coach following Bobby Petrino's departure for the FBS.

Ronnie Fouch remained on staff as running backs coach, recruiting coordinator and co-special teams coordinator.

Pimpleton replaces Austin Appleby, who took the wide receivers job on Trent Dilfer's new UAB staff last month.
