Coaching veteran David Mackie has his next destination.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Mackie is joining the Stephen F. Austin staff of Colby Carthel.
The move comes after Mackie spent the previous two seasons on Jon Sumrall's staff Troy, also Mackie's alma mater.
Additionally, Mackie has experience at East Carolina and Louisiana Tech, among other stops.
Mackie has extensive coaching experience working with both linebackers and safeties, including work at Hampton and Georgia Military College.
Just 3-8 in the 2023 season, Stephen F. Austin will try to bounce back in 2024 with a slate that includes a couple of brutal early-season games -- including at FBS program North Texas as well as at perennial FCS powerhouse Montana State.
