Cort Dennison's nationwide journey in collegiate football is set for another stop.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Dennison, a former standout-linebacker at the University of Washington, is headed to join Ryan Beard's Missouri State coaching staf.
Per sources, Dennison will coach the Bears's linebackers corps.
It's a reunion of sorts for Beard and Dennison, who previously worked together at the University of Louisville.
A former star high school athlete in his native Salt Lake City, Utah, Dennison went on to a stellar career at the University of Washington. He appeared in all but one game in his four-year career, culminated by second-team All-PAC 12 honors and being named the Huskies's defensive player of the year.
He's since coached two separate stints at Louisville, worked with the defense at the University of Oregon and spent the 2023 campaign on Utah's staff.
Missouri State just wrapped up its first season under Beard, who followed Bobby Petrino after Petrino returned to the SEC as an offensive coordinator.
Beard guided the Bears through a tough 4-7 debut campaign but helped the program show signs of progress down the back half of the season. After an 1-4 start, Missouri State went 3-3 the balance of the year and upset then-No. 16 Northern Iowa.
The Bears are slated to open their 2024 season at FCS national runner-up Montana, and in fact play just one home game through the first four weeks of the season.
