The common bonds between Army West Point and Georgia Southern are many, with Army led by former Georgia Southern head man Jeff Monken.
Now a member of Monken's off-the-field staff is electing for a homecoming of sorts.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Black Knights director of scouting, Danny Payne, is leaving West Point to join Chad Lunsford's Eagles staff as director of player personnel.
A Georgia native, Payne has deep ties in the state. He graduated from Kennesaw State, where he worked extensively in the football program for the Owls.
Payne's hiring continues a busy week as Lunsford's been replenishing his on- and off-the-field staff.
On Thursday, Lunsford welcomed in his new director of football operations.
Then on Friday, Lunsford brought another former Georgia Southern player home in a key on-field role.
