Sources: Georgia Southern preparing to lose key assistant to AAC or SEC opportunity (chris foster)

Georgia Southern is preparing to lose associate head coach/running backs coach Chris Foster, sources told FootballScoop on Thursday.

Sources say Foster has an offer from East Carolina, where the Pirates have an opening following De'Rail Sims' departure for Louisville.

Foster has also become a candidate at South Carolina, where Des Kitchings was announced as a member of Shane Beamer's initial staff then left for the Atlanta Falcons.

A South Carolina native, Foster played at Gardner-Webb and immediately became his alma mater's running backs coach following graduation. He then spent three seasons in the same capacity at Appalachian State, one season at Maryville College, and then the past three at Georgia Southern.

Foster has tutored four NFL backs, plus Appalachian State's all-time leading rusher Marcus Cox.

Sources tell FootballScoop Foster is likely to take one of the Carolina options; and likely leaning East; but we'll see if truly #ItJustMeansMore.

We will update when a decision is finalized.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.

Friday Update>Sources tell FootballScoop East Carolina head coach Mike Houston got this done. Foster heading to ECU.
