Sources: Gerad Parker bringing Caleb Carbine home to Troy from Notre Dame (Oregon State)

Caleb Carbine and Gerad Parker worked together previously at West Virginia and, most recently, Notre Dame.

Now, Carbine is set to reunite with Parker -- and enjoy a homecoming in the process.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Carbine is leaving his senior offensive analyst post at Notre Dame to become an on-field, offensive assistant for Parker's inaugural staff at Troy.

Upon Parker's departure earlier this month to Troy, Carbine was elevated by Irish coach Marcus Freeman to serve as Notre Dame's tight ends coach. The Irish smashed Oregon State, 40-8, Friday in the Sun Bowl for the program's all-time largest postseason win.

Carbine, a former Troy offensive linemen who also initiated his coaching career at his alma mater, is expected to again work with the Trojans's offensive line.

Tim Prister of Irish Illustrated also noted that Carbine was expected to join Parker's Troy staff.

In addition to Carbine's deep ties to Troy, his wife, Laura Beth, also is a Troy alum and previously worked in the athletics department at the school nestled in Deep South Alabama.

Carbine's proved a top, up-and-coming coach in college football. In addition to his Power 5 work at both Notre Dame and West Virginia, Carbine also had the aforementioned work at Troy and at North Alabama, where he coached the offensive line and also served as that program's running game coordinator.

The move to Troy also signals a true homecoming for Carbine; he's a native of Florence, Alabama, in the state's Shoals region.

Parker largely has completed his inaugural Troy staff, and sources told FootballScoop that Parker has zeroed in on a top target for offensive coordinator and had neared a final hire to finish the Trojans's defensive staff.
