Sources: Gerad Parker set to add rising personnel star Logan Meyer as Troy GM
As Troy continues its football transition under new head coach Gerad Parker, the Trojans also continue to see Parker assembling an daunting first-year staff.
The latest?
Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Parker is poaching Logan Meyer from Marshall to serve as Troy's new general manager and director of recruiting.
Meyer has embarked on a steady career climb. A former unpaid student worker in his undergraduate days, Meyer has worked for Luke Fickell at Cincinnati, been director of recruiting in the MAC at Miami (Ohio) and also worked in the Southeastern Conference at Auburn.
His ties in the Deep South, particularly that region of Alabama, are viewed as key for the transition to oversee a major segment of Parker's off-the-field program elements.
Meyer had spent the past 10 months on Charles Huff's Marshall staff; Huff has continued strong work atop the Thundering Herd, whom he has guided to three-straight bowl games.
But Meyer's addition -- soon to be formalized at Troy -- is another bold move for Parker, who's positioned the Trojans to add both Dontae Wright and Nathan Burton into defensive coordinator/co-defensive coordinator roles.
Parker was hired last Monday at Troy, after he had guided the offense of Notre Dame under Marcus Freeman during the 2023 season.
Though Notre Dame suffered upset-losses at Louisville and Clemson, it managed to secure a nine-win season and also set a number of offensive records under Parker, who helped Wake Forest graduate-transfer quarterback Sam Hartman transition into a pro-style offense for the first time in Hartman's six-year collegiate career.
Troy wrapped up its 2023 season Saturday with a loss to Duke in its bowl game; the Fighting Irish face Oregon State next week in the Sun Bowl at El Paso, Texas.
