With his on-field staff in place, Gus Malzahn is filling a key off-field position by snagging a member of a Big 12 program.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Malzahn is hiring Dave Shumate as his director of player personnel.
Shumate joins the UCF staff after serving in the same capacity at Kansas the past two seasons.
Before joining Les Miles in Lawrence, Shumate worked at Texas A&M and was also previously with Malzahn at Auburn in 2016.
Shumate spent three years at Texas A&M as the Aggies assistant director of player personnel before joining the Jayhawks in 2019.
At Auburn, under Malzahn in 2016, his role was coordinator of player personnel
From 2014-16 he served as offensive player personnel at Georgia from 2014-16.
