Houston coach Dana Holgorsen is moving swiftly to replace outgoing offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson.
Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Holgorsen is poised to name Michael Burchett, a former quarterback at the University of Kentucky and West Virginia and the Cougars’s current offensive analyst, to quarterbacks coach.
Burchett has ties with Holgorsen stretching back to West Virginia, and he’s got previous quarterbacks / play-calling experience from a brief but impressive one-year stint directing Fordham’s offense.
Dawson left Tuesday to become offensive coordinator at Miami for Mario Cristobal.
Following an eight-win 2022 campaign, Houston is set to open its upcoming season against UTSA Sept. 2 in Houston.
