Kansas Wesleyan has fired head coach Matt Myers, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday.
Located in Salina, Kan., Kansas Wesleyan is an NAIA school that competes in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The move comes days after KWU suffered a 42-13 loss to McPherson College, dropping the Coyotes' season record to 2-4.
Myers is a 2015 KWU graduate who was named the AFCA's NAIA Assistant Coach of the Year in 2021 before his promotion to head coach that winter. The Coyotes enjoyed 8-3 records in both of his full seasons as head coach, including a co-division championship in 2021. He was the first alum to lead the program since the 1940s.
Kansas Wesleyan hired AD Miguel Paredes in 2023, and sources tell FootballScoop a search for the new KWU head coach is already underway.
In the meantime, Kansas Wesleyan is off this week before resuming its season versus Avila University on Oct. 19, the club's conference opener. The regular season concludes Nov. 16 at Sterling College.
