Sources: Kentucky making strong hire for senior offensive analyst (Bush Hamdan)

Derek Shay, who has past experience in the Southeastern Conference, is headed back to college football’s top league.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Shay is heading back to the SEC to join the staff at the University of Kentucky.

Shay, most recently on Charles Huff’s Marshall staff, will reunite with new Kentucky offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan. Shay will serve as an senior offensive analyst for the Wildcats.

Shay coached previously with Hamdan at the University of Missouri; additionally Shay has previous SEC experience at LSU.

Mark Stoops hired Hamdan last month as Kentucky offensive coordinator; he replaced Liam Coen, who again left UK for the NFL.

Shay also coached at national prep powerhouse IMG Academy as well as additional collegiate stints at Bowling Green and McNeese State.
