Sources: Liberty working to hire former Group of 5 defensive coordinator (jack curtis)

Liberty is working to hire Jack Curtis as its new safeties coach, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday.

Curtis spent the past five seasons as the defensive coordinator at Tulane, and prior to that spent five seasons in the same role at Georgia Southern.

Curtis also coached safeties for Gary Pinkel at Missouri and coordinated Arkansas State's defense for seven seasons.

He would replace Corey Batoon, who left to become the defensive coordinator at South Alabama.

Hugh Freeze' squad finished the season 10-1, with their only loss due to a blocked field goal at the end at NC State.

They beat Coastal Carolina in the Cure Bowl.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
