Sources: Louisiana-Monroe adding veteran coach to run special teams

Jason Rollins also has head coaching experience

Jason Rollins has been a defensive coordinator, interim head coach and worn a variety of hats during a steady climb to his coaching career.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Rollins is picking up another new role: special teams coordinator for Terry Bowden's ULM Warhawks football program.

Rollins had spent a couple seasons at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, including his work as the program's interim head coach.

Prior to that, Rollins worked at UTSA. In San Antonio, Rollins had a pair of seasons as the defensive coordinator and also garnered experience as the Roadrunners' associate head coach.

A McNeese State graduate, who also earlier coached at his alma mater, Rollins has had some of his greatest coaching successes in Louisiana. He had a long run on staff at Tulane starting in 2008, eventually helping the Green Wave reach the postseason.

ULM has won a combined eight games in its first two seasons under Bowden, a former SEC Coach of the Year at Auburn and the son of the late, hall of fame coach Bobby Bowden.

The Warhawks open their 2023 season at home against Jeff Monken's Army squad Sept. 2 and have a pair of brutal, non-conference road games at SEC programs Texas A&M and Ole Miss within the season's first month.
