Sources: Mark Stoops, Kentucky making major hire at offensive line coach (Eric Wolford)

Mark Stoops landed Eric Wolford once from an SEC rival.

Now, Stoops is making the move again.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Kentucky is hiring Eric Wolford to coach the Wildcats's offensive line.

Wolford worked at Kentucky in 2021, left and spent the past two years at Alabama and now is poised to reunite with his long-time friend and colleague, Stoops.

Sources said the deal was close to being finalized late Thursday afternoon.

A former Kansas State player with head coaching experience from his run atop the FCS Youngstown State program in his hometown, Wolford was a key figure at South Carolina through multiple coaching regimes.

Initially hired to the Gamecocks program by Will Muschamp, Wolford was retained by Shane Beamer before he exited to work for Kentucky after the 2020 season.

Nick Saban and Alabama plucked away Wolford from the Wildcats after the 2021 campaign -- when Kentucky had a stellar offensive line that helped pave the way to an 10-win season.

Wolford has additional Power 5 assistant coaching experience at Arizona, Illinois and with the NFL's San Francisco 49ers.
