Sources: Matt Drinkall, Central Michigan make hire in top off-field role (Temple)

A head coach for the first time since his barnstorming tour de force atop the Kansas Wesleyan program that began a decade ago, Matt Drinkall has a key hire for his inaugural Central Michigan staff.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Drinkall has tabbed Ayden Opfer to become the Central Michigan General Manager for Football.

Opfer is a strong hire for Drinkall, who worked the past several seasons at Army.

An Ohio native who climbed to an assistant athletics director post assisting with capital projects and facilities at Army West Point in Jeff Monken's record-setting Black Knights program, Opfer returns to the Midwest in what is essentially the top off-the-field role in Drinkall's Central Michigan program.

Opfer, previously the Director of Creative Media for the Temple Owls program, is no stranger to the Mid-American Conference; he's a graduate of Bowling Green.
