Sources tell FootballScoop Wednesday evening Mel Tucker has hired Tyson Summers to serve as his defensive coordinator at Colorado.

Summers served as a defensive quality control at Georgia the past year+, after spending the 2016 & part of the 2017 season as head coach at Georgia Southern. In total, Georgia Southern went 5-13 under Summers’ watch.

Summers served as linebackers coach at UCF from 2012-14 (including as defensive coordinator for 2014) and as defensive coordinator at Colorado State for Mike Bobo in 2015. He originally hails from the great state of Georgia.

Chase Howell initially tweeted about the hire.
