Steve Casula is expected to head back to Ann Arbor for a role with the defending national champs.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Casula, who spent the past two seasons as the offensive coordinator on Don Brown's staff at UMass, is expected to be the new tight ends coach for the Wolverines.
Rivals has reported the same.
Before leaving for UMass, Casula served as an offensive analyst for the program.
In Ann Arbor he reunites with new head coach Sherrone Moore and Grant Newsome (who formally stepped into the offensive line role), as he's familiar with both guys from his time with the Wolverines. Yesterday, Michigan formally announced the promotion of Kirk Campbell from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator.
A bright offensive mind with previous high-level coordinator experience at Ferris State (D-II - MI), Casula has also carved out a reputation as an outstanding recruiter with plenty of experience and relationships in Michigan and throughout the midwest.
Before joining the Ferris State staff, Casula was the offensive coordinator at Davenport (D-II - MI) also spent some time as the program's interim head coach following the departure of Lou Esposito, who left for a job on the Western Michigan staff.
The east coast native also spent time as an assistant at Colgate (FCS - NY) under longtime head coach Dick Biddle and at Western Michigan under Bill Cubit.
