Sources: Michigan is planning to add Mike Mallory to staff (Mike Mallory)

Sources tell FootballScoop that Jim Harbaugh is planning to add a veteran NFL assistant to the staff.

Mike Mallory, who spent last season as an assistant special teams coach for the Denver Broncos, is expected to join the staff in Ann Arbor where he will serve as an analyst working with special teams.

A veteran NFL coach who has worked with special teams in the league since 2008, Mallory has recent stops with the Saints and Jaguars as well, and coordinated the special teams in Jacksonville from 2013-16.

His last college stop was in 2007, when he coached the defensive backs at Louisville and he coached the linebackers at Kansas in 2006.

Mallory has been a defensive coordinator in college football as well, with coordinating stops at Northern Illinois, Rhode Island (FCS), and Illinois.

He has additional stops on the defensive side of the ball at Maryland, Eastern Illinois (FCS), and Kent State.
