Mike Elko's set to have a father-son duel on his inaugural Texas A&M football staff.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Blaise Taylor is departing his post at Utah State to join the Aggies' staff as an defensive analyst.
Specifically, sources said, Taylor will work with the Texas A&M defensive backs.
He'll join his father, Aggies running backs coach Trooper Taylor, on staff in College Station, Texas.
A former standout player at Arkansas State, Blaise Taylor already has both NFL and power-conference experience in his young coaching career.
In addition to serving as a graduate assistant at Duke, Taylor also spent four seasons on staff with the NFL's Tennessee Titans -- for whom he worked in scouting.
After beginning with the Titans as an scouting assistant, Taylor was elevated to pro scout before eventually leaving Tennessee to join Blake Anderson's Utah State staff as an senior defensive analyst. Taylor played for Anderson at Arkansas State.
The Aggies have dramatically reshaped their football program from the top down, after firing Jimbo Fisher late last season and eventually concluding their winding search with Elko, who in short order turned around Duke in just two seasons.
Texas A&M is set to open its 2024 season Aug. 31 at home against Notre Dame -- the team Elko used to serve as defensive coordinator, before landing at Texas A&M and eventually turning his work there into the top job at Duke.
