Sources: Montana State is snagging another PAC-12 staffer for coordinator role

In just over a week, new Montana State head coach Brent Vigen has assembled an impressive lineup for his coordinator spots.

It started with the addition of Oregon offensive analyst Taylor Housewright as offensive coordinator, then we reported on the addition of Nevada corners coach Freddie Banks, a fast riser in the coaching profession, as the team's defensive coordinator just a few days ago.

Vigen's latest addition to the staff will again come from the PAC-12.

Sources share with FootballScoop that USC defensive analyst Shawn Howe is joining the Montana State staff as defensive line coach / run game coordinator. We understand that Howe was a key contributor to the off-field staff for the Trojans and is highly respected.

Before joining the staff at USC, Howe coached the defensive line at Coastal Carolina, but has ties to the region after serving as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Dixie State (D-II - UT) for a few seasons from 2015-17 and also began his career at Rocky Mountain College, where he attended school.

Past coaching stops include another stint at USC (in graduate and defensive assistant roles), Gardner Webb (FCS - NC), Memphis, and NC State.

After raiding the PAC-12 for some key coordinator positions at two of three spots, it will be interesting to see how the rest of Vigen's staff shapes up after a strong start.

Stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
