Maryville College, an NCAA Division III program tucked just south of Knoxville, Tennessee, near the Great Smoky Mountains, is headed for a new home in one of the division's most competitive leagues.
Sources tell FootballScoop that the Scots will join the Southern Athletic Association, with an announcement expected as early as this afternoon.
Maryville College has been a member of the USA South Conference since spring 2012, At this time, per sources, the school's additional sports teams will remain USA South members while football transitions into the SAA in time for the 2025 season.
On the football field, the Scots have experienced a resurgence under young head coach Ben Fox.
The 2023 Scots just missed the NCAA Division III Playoffs after an eight-win campaign -- their most in nearly a decade.
Additionally, Maryville College returns several key starters on both sides of the ball -- led by All-USA South quarterback Bryson Rollins. The rising junior also was the league's freshman of the year in 2022.
The Scots are scheduled to open their 2024 season Sept. 7 against longtime rival Sewanee.
Additional members of the SAA include: Berry, Centre, Hendrix, Millsaps, Rhodes, Sewanee, Southwestern and Trinity.
