Sources: New Hampshire adding former Duke Blue Devil to offensive staff (Charles Watkins)

Charles Watkins is making moves within the NCAA's Football Championship Subdivision coaching ranks.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Watkins, who closed his collegiate playing career as a multi-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference academic selection, is exiting his post at Pioneer League-member St. Thomas to become the wide receivers coach at New Hampshire.

After coaching running backs for the St. Thomas Tommies, Watkins is returning to his natural spot coaching wideouts, where he played for both Wagner and then Duke in his collegiate career.

But Watkins, who also played professionally in the Arena Football League, has shown coaching versatility. He's got past experience as the secondary coach at Coe College (Iowa) and had a stint as defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Concordia College as well.

Fresh off a nine-win season that saw it advance to the Second Round of the 2022 FCS Playoffs in its debut campaign under head coach Rick Santos. New Hampshire opens its 2023 season with back-to-back games at Stonehill and Football Bowls Subdivision program Central Michigan before beginning the home portion of its slate Sept. 16 against Dartmouth.
