Pete Bevacqua is committing resources to match his commitment to helping bolster Notre Dame football.
Publicly and repeatedly saying Notre Dame needs to win a football national championship, Bevacqua is pouring more human horsepower into Fighting Irish football.
And General Manager Chad Bowden is making another significant staff addition.
Sources tell FootballScoop that the Irish are adding Anthony Treash to the football department as Notre Dame’s Director of Analytics.
In joining Marcus Freeman's preseason top-10 Notre Dame program, Treash is further bolstering the Irish's NFL-modeled approach.
Treash, who's been a key figure for nationally acclaimed Pro Football Focus (PFF), will work closely with Bowden and Matt Jansen, Notre Dame's director of scouting who also owns significant NFL experience.
Jansen has proved an indispensable member of the Irish's off-the-field team and has added key evaluation responsibilities to his list of duties, FootballScoop has learned.
The addition of Treash comes just on the heels of several other notable personnel developments for Notre Dame.
Freeman and Bowden elevated Zaire Turner into the role of director of player personnel, and the duo quickly pounced to rehire the well-regarded Caleb Davis from Troy after Davis had been tabbed as co-general manager in Gerad Parker's program.
Additionally, Notre Dame fended off Wisconsin last month to retain Carter Auman, now the Irish's assistant general manager. Auman had been offered an upper-level role in Wisconsin's personnel department, numerous sources told FootballScoop.
Treash, an Indiana University graduate, has spent the last five years at PFF as one of the organization's top college football analysts.
He's expected to join the Notre Dame football staff in the coming days as the Irish continue preparations for their Aug. 31 season-opening contest at Texas A&M.
