Sources: Pete Lembo, Buffalo nabbing MAC rival's defensive line coach (Maurice Linguist)

Roughly a week into his return as a college head coach, Pete Lembo is taking another step toward finalizing his inaugural Buffalo Bulls coaching staff.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Lembo is hiring Adam Morris to serve as Buffalo's defensive line coach.

Additionally, sources told FootballScoop that Morris is expected to also assist the defense as a running game coordinator.

It's a reunion for Lembo and Morris, who played for Lembo at Ball State..

A former team captain for the Cardinals, Morris helped Ball State to a nine-win campaign in 2012 -- part of a stretch that saw Lembo lead the school to 19 combined wins in the 2012-13 seasons.

On Thursday, FootballScoop shared that Lembo had found his defensive coordinator as he poached Joe Bowen away from Miami (Ohio).

In addition to the work at his alma mater, Morris has served as both a head coach and assistant coach in the high school ranks. He got his first prep head coaching job at age 25 -- at the time making him the youngest head coach in the state of Indiana.

After an 3-9 2023 season that saw head coach Maurice Linguist depart for the co-defensive coordinator spot at Alabama, Buffalo hired Lembo earlier this month and transitioned into a 2024 campaign that includes an Aug. 29 opener against FCS program Lafayette followed by an Sept. 7 trip to Missouri, which just closed out its 11-win 2023 season with a double-digit win against Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.
