Sources: Rhode Island adding Division III coordinator to staff

Sources tell FootballScoop that Rhode Island (FCS) is adding Adam Griggs to the staff.

We understand his role will be coaching the tight ends.

Griggs spent the past several seasons at the Division III level at University of Rochester (D-III - NY), where he served as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach since following Chad Martinovich from MIT in 2018.

His offenses have been efficient on the ground and through the air, as the program ran for over 2,000 yards during the 2022 season where they had an All-American running back in Daniel Papantonis. In 2023 Griggs' offense tied the single season passing attempt record and finished among the top five in school history in a number of other categories including completion percentage, and completions.

He has previous stops at Bentley (D-II - MA) and Assumption (D-II - MA).

In addition to working with the offensive line, Griggs has also coached the receivers and also coordinated special teams.

He steps into a role at Rhode Island as the FCS program is coming off a 7-4 season.
