Scott Boone, with more than 40 years' collegiate coaching experience, is going to lend a veteran voice to Manny Diaz's first-year Duke staff, sources tell FootballScoop.
Most recently an XFL assistant coach, Boone is heading to Durham, N.C., to serve as the Blue Devils's senior quality control coach for special teams.
Boone will be a veteran voice for new Duke special teams coordinator Gabe Infante, whom Diaz hired away from Infante's role as an senior analyst in James Franklin's Penn State program.
An Indiana native, Boone initiated his coaching career at Wabash College before he transitioned to the Football Championship Subdivision level at William & Mary.
Later, Boone worked at the University of Nevada as the Wolf Pack's defensive coordinator and he worked at the Power 5 level when he was an assistant coach under Rich Rodriguez at the University of Arizona.
Boone coached for San Antonio in the XFL the past two seasons before he elected to make his return to the collegiate ranks.
