Sources: South Carolina expected to add SEC offensive line coach (South Carolina)

Sources tell FootballScoop that Shane Beamer is adding a veteran offensive line coach to his staff.

Tennessee offensive line coach Will Friend, who has spent the last three seasons in Knoxville on Jeremy Pruitt's staff, is expected to join the Gamecocks, sources have shared.

The move would mean Friend reuniting with South Carolina offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, who signed a two-year deal worth $1.2 million per last December and has one year remaining on his deal.

The relationship between Bobo and Friend goes back years to when Mike was the offensive coordinator at Georgia under Mark Richt and Friend was the Bulldogs' offensive line coach and run game coordinator. When Bobo landed the head coaching job at Colorado State in 2015, Friend was the first guy he brought to Fort Collins with the title of offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the Rams.

In addition to those stops, other coaching jobs have taken Friend to UAB, Gardner-Webb, and West Alabama throughout his career.

More hires are expected to become clear in the coming days.
