A first-year NCAA Division III Playoffs appearance turned out to be the high-water mark for SUNY-Maritime College head coach Mickey Rehring.
After four years and three seasons at the helm of the Privateers program, Rehring is not returning to lead the program into its 2024 season, sources tell FootballScoop.
He exits after compiling an 16-24 overall mark in four full seasons; Rehring's teams were highly competitive in the Eastern College Athletic Conference, where they were 11-13 under his guidance.
A noted defensive coach, Rehring had a distinguished run as Johns Hopkins defensive coordinator in earning his head coaching opportunity at SUNY-Maritime.
He also previously coached at Bowdoin College.
The SUNY-Martime program will immediately search for its next head coach.
The NCAA's traditional February signing period begins Wednesday, and while it doesn't directly impact the D3 Privateers, it does traditionally signal the time that many D3 programs begin to fill out their incoming classes for the ensuing season.
