Sources: Stephen Adegoke will remain with Texans and not take Michigan job (Stephen Adogoke)

Earlier today we shared that while Stephen Adegoke had been offered the Michigan defensive backs job, and was Sherrone Moore's top target to fill the job, Adegoke wasn't a lock to join the staff in Ann Arbor, as had previously reported.

We broke the news this morning that Adegoke was weighing some options, and planned to make a decision on his coaching future by the end of day Thursday.

Now, sources share with FootballScoop that Adegoke has made his mind up, and he's decided to remain in Houston.

Being able to keep an assistant from jumping to working with the whole secondary for the defending national champs is a big score for DeMeco Ryans and his staff continuity in Houston.

The Texans safeties coach has spent the past two seasons in the NFL working with Ryans, initially in San Francisco before being elevated to an on-field role coaching the safeties when Ryans took the Texans job.

Houston had one of the most impressive turnaround seasons in recent memory, as rookie quarterback CJ Stroud and Ryans helped lead a resurgence for the Texans, finishing the season 10-7 with a playoff appearance. The improvement was impressive, considering the Texans were coming off a 3-13 campaign in 2022 where a number of roster and staff questions needed answered.

Adegoke previously spent a season as a defensive graduate assistant in Ann Arbor and would have brought significant familiarity to the staff that is being rebuilt under Moore.

Michigan, Moore, and new defensive Wink Martindale have already begun the process of moving onto their other candidates, we're told.
