Sources: Storied HBCU program Jackson State lands top new offensive assistant (Jackson State)

After closing out a successful, 7-4 campaign as replacement to Deion Sanders atop the Jackson State football program, T.C. Taylor now is poised for a key addition to his offensive staff.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Taylor is hiring Jermaine Gales, an NCAA Division II head coach, to coach the Tigers' wideouts and also help serve as the program's passing game coordinator.

In addition to spending the past two years atop the Lincoln (Missouri) Blue Tigers football program, Gales has previous experience at Bluefield State, Arkansas-Pine Blue and North Carolina Central.

Taylor transitioned nicely to his post atop the JSU program after Coach Prime exited at the conclusion of the 2022 season to take over at Colorado.

The Tigers won five of their final seven games and finished 5-3 in the SWAC.

Jackson State is scheduled to open its 2024 season at Louisiana-Monroe, which on Dec. 5 named Bryant Vincent as the program's new head coach.
