After losing two offensive line coaches to the SEC in one offseason, Dave Aranda has made a hire that will stick. At least he believes it'll stick.
Tarleton (FCS - TX) offensive coordinator Mason Miller will coach the Bears' offensive line, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday. The news was first reported by Will Turboff of Bears Illustrated.
Miller replaces Chris Kapilovic, who took the offensive line job at Alabama earlier this week. Kapilovic replaced Eric Mateos, who left in December after three seasons to return to Arkansas.
Miller spent the 2023 campaign as the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach at Tarleton (his second stint at the school), but spent the five prior seasons coaching Mike Leach's offensive line at Washington State and Mississippi State.
That experience will come in handy in Waco, as Baylor transitions from Jeff Grimes's wide zone offense to Jake Spavital's spin on the Air Raid.
Miller's offensive lines allowed the fewest sacks in the Pac-12 in 2018-19, and the Bulldogs led the SEC in passing in 2021-22.
