Sources: TCU beefs up staff, hires FCS special teams coordinator Casey Petree (Casey Petree)

TCU has enhanced its off-the-field staff under Sonny Dykes with the addition of football operations veteran Ryan Dorchester, and now the Horned Frogs are adding to their coaching staff as well, sources told FootballScoop Tuesday.

Cal-Poly special teams coordinator Casey Petree has agreed to join Dykes's TCU Horned Frogs staff as a full-time analyst, a role in which Petree primarily will serve to assist the program's special teams units sources told FootballScoop.

It's something of a homecoming for Petree - a native of Lubbock, Texas, and University of Texas graduate.

His coaching career has spanned stops at SMU and Cal-Berkeley. Petree worked on the defensive side of the ball with the safeties and on special teams throughout earlier portions of his career and then helped develop multiple All-Big Sky Conference selections at the tight end position at Cal-Poly.

Following his stints at SMU and Cal, Petree was hired into the full-time role as Cal-Poly's special teams coordinator and tight ends coaching in December 2019.

He served the past four years on the Cal-Poly staff in that role.
