Sources: TCU hiring veteran football administrator Ryan Dorchester (Ryan Dorchester)

Ryan Dorchester, who's been integral to the day-to-day operations of the West Virginia and Houston football programs for the past 20 years, has landed a new role at a rival Big 12 program, sources tell FootballScoop.

After being in lock-step with Dana Holgorsen throughout much of his career, Dorchester is shifting within the Lone Star State to Sonny Dykes's TCU program, sources told FootballScoop Tuesday.

In his new role, Dorchester will serve as the Horned Frogs's associate athletics director for football and football administration.

It's another elevated step for Dorchester, who has climbed from former student equipment manager with the Mountaineers to carve a role in the program's recruiting operations and, eventually, handling virtually all off-the-field operations at West Virginia.

Dorchester accompanied Holgorsen to Houston, where he worked the last five seasons as the Cougars's general manager and assistant athletics director for football.

Dykes guided TCU to the championship game of the College Football Playoff after the 2022 season, his squad finishing runner-up to Georgia as the Bulldogs claimed back-to-back national titles.

TCU is set to open its 2024 season at new ACC member Stanford on Friday, Aug. 30. The Horned Frogs battle Dorchester's old program, Houston, at home on Oct. 5.
