Texas A&M-Kingsville's search is down to two finalists, sources told FootballScoop on Monday.
Henderson State head coach Scott Maxfield and Incarnate Word offensive coordinator Cody Crill are finalists for the job, sources say. A hire could be in places as early as tomorrow.
Maxfield has been the head coach at Division II Henderson State for the past 15 seasons, compiling a school-record 108 wins with five conference championships. He led the Reddies to a 9-3 record with an appearance in the Live United Bowl this fall.
Crill has been Incarnate Word's offensive coordinator for the past two seasons, working with head coach Eric Morris to take a program that went 1-10 in 2017 to an FCS playoffs appearance in 2018. Prior to UIW, Crill spent nine seasons at Navarro College, the final three as head coach.
Texas A&M-Kingsville is a Division II school that competes in the Lone Star Conference. The Javelinas went 2-9 in 2019. Head coach Daren Wilkinson was not retained on Nov. 18.
