Cole Peterson, just a couple years removed from being the country's youngest director of football operations at the NCAA Division I level, is poised for another big jump.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Peterson is joining Trent Dilfer's inaugural UAB staff, where Peterson will serve as the Blazers' Executive Director of Football Operations.
It's something of a homecoming for Peterson, whose journey through the collegiate ranks -- both as an assistant coach and in various off-the-field roles -- includes previous time at UAB as a student assistant.
Peterson, with his most recent work coming at Youngstown State and then the past year at Indiana University as an assistant director of football operations, is poised to take the lead mantle in Dilfer's football operations.
Just 24 years old, Peterson is continuing to rise through his profession as one of the sport's youngest leaders in a crucial off-the-field role.
DIlfer was hired atop the Blazers' program last month after again leading his Lipscomb Academy (Nashville) program to a state title in its Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association Division. The former Super Bowl-winning quarterback is a former ESPN analyst who helped run the prestigious Elite 11 camp before embarking on his coaching career.
