Sources: Troy to add defensive line coach with ACC, NFL experience (Justin Manning)

Gerad Parker is doing everything he can to keep the momentum going at Troy.

Parker, the program's new head coach after Jon Sumrall was hired away by Tulane and Troy plucked Parker away from Notre Dame, has seized upon the resources afforded by Troy's administration -- sources shared with FootballScoop that the program has allocated a significant additional six-figure sum into the assistant coaches' salary pool -- to piece together Parker's first staff.

The latest? Sources tell FootballScoop that Parker and Troy are finalizing the addition of Justin Manning as the Trojans's defensive line coach.

Manning has recorded two different stints in various roles on the staff at Duke University, and he's also worked in the NFL for the then-San Diego Chargers as a coaching intern in 2015.

Other stops for Manning include work at Boston College in a variety of roles, coaching the defensive line at Eastern Illinois and also has coached at Tufts.

Manning's diverse background includes playing fullback in college at North Carolina Central as well as coaching on both sides of the ball since launching his coaching career.
