Chris Carter, USC's director of player development the past two seasons, is leaving the Trojans, FootballScoop has learned.
Carter is heading across town to UCLA, where he also will work in the Bruins' personnel department under new head coach DeShaun Foster, sources told FootballScoop Monday.
A Fresno State grad, Carter transitioned into coaching following his playing career and after also spending time with the NFLPA, where he worked in helping players transition to life after football.
Carter's first foray into collegiate coaching was in 2021 at the University of Oklahoma, where he served on Lincoln RIley's staff as a defensive recruiting analyst and then followed Riley out to USC.
A California native, Carter spent time in the NFL as a player with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens.
Foster was elevated to head coach at his alma mater earlier this year after former head coach Chip Kelly left to become the offensive coordinator at Ohio State.
The Bruins are scheduled to open their 2024 season Aug. 31 at Hawaii and two weeks later play their debut game in the Big Ten against visiting conference member Indiana.
