Sources: UMass finds next offensive coordinator (Steve Casula)

Don Brown has his next offensive play-caller at UMass, sources tell FootballScoop.

Shane Montgomery, a veteran collegiate assistant coach with extensive experience as an offensive coordinator, is set to assume that role for Brown's UMass MInutemen, sources tell FootballScoop late Sunday night.

An offensive play-caller for six different programs, Montgomery most recently called the offense under Maurice 'Mo' Lingquist at the University of Buffalo.

Additionally, Montgomery owns offensive coordinator experience from stops at Miami (Ohio), Akron, Charlotte, Youngstown State and James Madison; he helped the James Madison program win a pair of conference championships.

Brown needed to find a new offensive coordinator late this cycle after Steve Casula exited UMass to take a position on Sherrone Moore's University of Michigan offensive staff.

Casula just left the UMass program earlier this month.

Brown has gone 4-20 in his first two seasons atop the UMass program; the Minutemen open their 2024 season Aug. 31 at home against Eastern Michigan.
