Sources: UNLV has an unexpected opening on offensive staff

Sources tell FootballScoop that UNLV head coach Marcus Arroyo has an unexpected opening on the offensive side of the ball heading into his second summer on the job.

Offensive line coach Cameron Norcross will not return to the staff, FootballScoop has learned. Norcross also served as the team's run game coordinator.

Sources tell FootballScoop Arroyo and offensive coordinator Glenn Thomas are on the look for their next offensive line coach.

Norcross joined Arroyo's first UNLV staff after four seasons in the SEC at Vanderbilt where he worked on Derek Mason's staff.

Prior to that, he spent four seasons on the Fresno State staff and also has a decade of experience at Nevada, where he helped lead the Wolf Pack to seven straight bowl appearances from 2005-11.

While at Nevada, Norcross rose through the ranks after starting as a graduate assistant on staff, before first becoming the tight ends coach / co-offensive line coach and was promoted to run-game coordinator and offensive line coach in 2010.

His experience at Nevada & Fresno State made him a highly regarded hire on Arroyo's initial staff, and his time in the SEC was viewed as a major plus as well.

Arroyo and UNLV finished 0-6 this past fall as they played a tough all Mountain West slate.
