Sources: Vanderbilt adding top young FCS OL coach to offensive staff (Jeff Nady)

Vanderbilt had a breakthrough 2024 season under popular coach Clark Lea, a former Commodores player.

Now, Lea -- with star quarterback Diego Pavia back in the fold -- is looking to continue his Vanderbilt reconstruction.

Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Vanderbilt is finalizing a deal to add South Dakota offensive line coach Jeff Nady to its staff.

A former all-conference offensive lineman at Nevada who had brief NFL stints with both the Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars, Nady is expected to join the Vanderbilt staff in an offensive staff role, likely assisting with the offensive line.

Veteran Chris Klenakis is the Commodores offensive line coach.

But Nady is set to join to work on the offensive side of the ball, where he's spent the majority of his coaching career. He was offensive line coach at his alma mater during the 2022 season and then spent the 2023-24 seasons on staff at South Dakota.

Earlier this year, South Dakota promoted well-regarded veteran defensive coordinator Travis Johansen to the role of head coach.

Nady also has experience as the assistant head coach and offensive line coach at Fort Lewis College (Colorado), as well as working in the strength and conditioning program at Nevada following the conclusion of his playing career.

Vanderbilt opens its 2025 season Aug. 30 at home against Charleston Southern, before a road trip the next week to Virginia Tech -- one of the Commodores signature wins in 2024 alongside Alabama, Kentucky, Auburn and Georgia Tech.
