Sources: Veteran NFL coach Hue Jackson finalizing Tennessee State deal (Rod Woodson)

If this was a hand of poker, Tennessee State's football program would be shoving everything to the middle.

The Tigers are going all-in with Eddie George now at the helm.

TSU is working to finalize the hiring of noted veteran NFL coach Hue Jackson as George's offensive coordinator, sources reiterated to FootballScoop.

FootballScoop on Sunday first reported that Jackson and TSU officials were in negotiations to finalize a deal for Jackson to become the Tigers' offensive play-caller.

Jackson, the former Oakland Raiders and Cleveland Browns head coach, is known for his offensive acumen as well as his strong rapport with his players.

The Pro Football Writers of America NFL Coach of the Year in 2015, Jackson spent almost 20-straight years in the NFL ranks before briefly stepping away from football a couple years ago.

Yet he also is no stranger to the college game. The early stages of Jackson's career were spent as an assistant coach on multiple college staffs, including Southern Cal.

George, TSU and advisor Jeff Fisher continue to piece together a formidable first group of coaches. Fisher's son, Brandon, will be named TSU's defensive coordinator, per sources with direct knowledge, and the Tigers also are finalizing a deal with Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive back Rod Woodson to coach the secondary.
