Sources: Wake Forest moving to hire offensive coordinator (Rob Ezell)

A former national title-winner under Nick Saban at Alabama, Rob Ezell is poised to seek his own opportunity to help guide an offense at a Power Conference level.

Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Ezell is being pursued by new Wake Forest coach Jake Dickert to run the Demon Deacons offense following Ezell's most recent work under Major Applewhite at South Alabama.

Sources tell FootballScoop a deal is expected to be in place by the end of the day.

Dickert, the former Washington State head coach, was tabbed earlier this month as the new leader at Wake Forest after Dave Clawson abruptly stepped down from his post.

Ezell is an Alabama native who earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama as a walk-on player under legendary coach Nick Saban. Additionally, Ezell launched his coaching career at Colorado State under Jim McElwain before he returned to his native Alabama to work at South Alabama.

After he logged three seasons at South Alabama as the program's tight ends coach, he was elevated to the role of offensive coordinator prior to the 2024 season.

All the Jaguars did in his season triggering the offense was to average nearly 35 points per game and some 442 yards' offense.

South Alabama posted a seven-win season and defeated Western Michigan in the Salute To Veterans Bowl to finish off their 2024 campaign.
