Sources: Western Illinois hires Texas A&M assistant, makes in-house promotion (Texas A&M)

Looking to rebound from a 4-8 2024 campaign, Western Illinois head coach Joe Davis is reworking his coaching staff in 2025.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Brad Wilson has been promoted to assistant head coach; already, Davis has served as the program's offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.

Davis has past FBS coaching experience at San Diego State, Eastern Michigan and Ball State; he arrived at WIU after he had served as offensive coordinator at the University of Indianapolis.

Additionally, Davis dipped into the SEC to find his new wide receivers coach, sources told FootballScoop.

Davis is hiring Isaiah Washington to coach the Leathernecks wideouts, pulling him away from his role as assistant wide receivers coach at Texas A&M.

Washington has past experience as well at New Mexico State.

Western Illinois opens its 2025 campaign with a brutal set of back-to-back games at Big Ten foes. The Leathernecks face Illinois Aug. 30 and a week later travel to Northwestern.
