Sources: Wofford adding Cortez Davis on defense (shawn watson)

Cortez Davis closed his Hawaii playing career as one of the school's most-accomplished defensive backs in recent program history.

After a brief professional career that included stints with the NFL's Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals, Davis has turned his focus onto coaching.

On the heels of spending a year at Lakeview Academy just outside Atlanta, Georgia, Davis is making the jump to college football, multiple sources tell FootballScoop.

Second-year Wofford head coach Shawn Watson is adding Davis to the Terriers' defensive staff, sources told FootballScoop Sunday.

Davis will be a quality control coach for co-defensive coordinators Jonathan Saxon and Andrew Warwick.

Wofford is coming off an 2-9 campaign in Watson's first full season at the helm.

The Terriers open their 2024 season Aug. 31 against Gardner-Webb, which is beginning a new era after Tre Lamb was hired away by ETSU after leading the Bulldogs to multiple FCS Playoffs trips.
