After over a decade climbing the coaching ranks in Oklahoma and beyond, Andrew Rice has landed his first opportunity to lead a college football program.
Rice was announced today as the new head coach at Southwestern Oklahoma State (SWOSU).
Prior to spending the past six seasons at the collegiate level, Rice was an assistant coach in the Oklahoma high school ranks at Bixby HS (OK), Charles Page HS (OK) and Bartlesville HS (OK) before he was named the head coach at Miami HS (OK).
He has spent the past two seasons directing one of the top rushing attacks in Division II football at Southern Arkansas, where he served as offensive coordinator during their 10-2 season.
That ten-win campaign was Souther Arkansas' first double-digit win season in over 70 years, and they did it in large part because Rice's offense averaged nearly 39 points per game and ranked among the top five in total offense nationally.
He also has previous college stops at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and Central Oklahoma.
At SWOSU, Rice inherits a team that finished 0-11 last season, with nine of losses coming by double digits. They scored more than 14 points in just one of those contests.
