Stanford's latest recruiting pitch shows off their "geographic melting pot"

Stanford is one of the rare programs in college football today that almost sells itself; you get one of the best educations in America, you get the opportunity to go to school and play football in one of the most beautiful locations on the planet, you play for coaches who care about you, and you're presented the opportunity to play a very physical, and specific brand of high quality football.

There are only a handful of programs in the country that are able to equip their coaching staffs with recruiting pitches like that. David Shaw's program at Stanford is one of them.

With all of those things in mind, it's no wonder the Stanford football roster is made up of players from 30 of the 50 states, plus one from Mexico. The 2014 roster included a player from Canada to add to that international appeal. Just off the top of my head, I can't imagine another program where even 20 states would be represented.

But beyond the lengthy list of credentials that a university may (or may not) have, or the tradition that the football program has, or uniform combinations they offer, kids want to feel like they belong somewhere more than anything.

Stanford capitalizes on that with this video.

"Honestly, I fell like this is the most diverse locker I'd have ever been around if I didn't decide to go to Stanford University" Ronnie Harris, a Senior defensive back from Atlanta explained.

"I'm afforded the opportunity to go in there [the locker room] and talk to any one of my teammates about any number of things, and the conversations that we have, I don't think can be matched by a lot of the people around the country from politics, to financial stuff, or everyday life."

"I can't say it's better than any other locker room, because I've never been anywhere else, but I can say that I wouldn't want to be anywhere else." Senior receiver Ty Montgomery added.
