Bill Belichick has methodically -- that's code for slow -- pieced together his first North Carolina staff, and another name has surfaced Tuesday.
Washington defensive analyst and assistant director of recruiting Armond Hawkins is expected to coach the Tar Heels' secondary, according to multiple reports on Tuesday. Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports first reported the news.
Hawkins worked under Steve Belichick for his one year in Seattle, and is now set to do so again in a more prominent role in Chapel Hill.
An Idaho graduate, Hawkins was previously the director of high school relations at USC and a recruiting staffer at Colorado and Arizona.
Hired Dec. 12, the only name formally announced by UNC remains general manager Michael Lombardi. Since then, North Carolina has retained Freddie Kitchens (expected to be offensive coordinator) while adding Steve Belichick (defensive coordinator), IMG Academy head coach Billy Miller (special teams), former Canadian Football League head coach Chris Jones (TBD defense), Oregon offensive analyst Matt Lombardi (TBD offense) and UCF player personnel director Cory Giddings.
