Stony Brook has announced a head coaching change (Chuck Priore)

Stony Brook (FCS - NY) has announced a head coaching change.

Chuck Priore, who led the program last 18 seasons and was the winningest head coach in program history, will not return next fall.

Priore was a trailblazer for the Stony Brook program, leading them to many firsts including their first upset of an FBS program over Army in 2012, first ten win season (also in 2012), first post season berth in the FCS playoffs, and their first player on an NFL roster.

In total, Priore led the program to four appearances in the FCS postseason and won at least a share of four Big South conference titles in addition to a number of coach of the year honors from the conference and national levels.

He had a record of 97-101 in his time leading the Seawolves.

The change comes just a year after signing a three-year extension last summer and as the school has endured five-straight losing seasons. The Seawolves were 0-10 this fall.

Offensive coordinator Andrew Dresner has been elevated to the interim head coach role.

The school's next head coach will be just their third in the program's history of playing at the Division I level.

A national search has immediately begun for their next leader.
